“Schalk wave” - that was the headline of one of the largest German car magazines a few years ago and wrote: “There aren't too many extremely conspicuously converted five-series Golfs in the scene.” And further: “Especially with a new car, hardly anyone dares to do so the basic substance, just as Christian Schalk, owner of Schalk-Tuning Hettstedt, has done successfully.”
Christian Schalk has been astonishing and delighting the automotive world for several years now, is always good for one-off cars on four wheels that are used in shows and have already won lots of trophies at numerous trade fairs. And television has already reported on the car gems from Hettstedt. “Where others stop, we begin.” That's the name of the company slogan of Christian Schalk, who was enthusiastic about cars from an early age.
Born and raised in Aschersleben in 1979, as a child he spent every free minute in his father Dieter's car repair shop, watching, lending a hand and, even before he began his apprenticeship as a car mechanic, he knew much more about vehicle technology than most of his school colleagues At the age of 16 he converted his first car. After completing his apprenticeship, he worked with his father for a few years. “I have a lot to thank him for. He has always supported me. Without him, many things would not be possible today.” The Schalk tuning company, which Christian Schalk set up his own business in 2004, is directly linked to his father's workshop and works hand in hand. The employees of both companies help each other and brother Stephan is also valuable support. In 2021, Christian Schalk took over the company from his father, who was retiring due to age, and integrated the car service into his tuning company.
“Making every car an extravagant piece and giving it its own touch is what tuning means,” explains the boss, who has also long been a master car mechanic and instructor. Under his hand, cars are optimally equipped or, as they also say, “pimped up”. From the exterior design to the interior, entirely according to the customer's dreams and wishes, from the chassis to the perfect sound in the car radio. Car lovers come from Switzerland, Austria, Holland and Spain. There are only a few companies in Germany that are able to offer similar high-quality services. And that's why car artist Christian Schalk can look to the future quite optimistically.
