The APR Open PEX intake system is the best value for money intake for the 1.8T/2.0T EA888 Gen III engines. We have again been able to significantly maximize the performance and the sound by reducing the pressure drop and increasing the airflow. This results in more power, torque and less stress on the turbocharger. The system looks cool, sounds amazing and produces power and torque that you can feel. And the best? As a result of extensive tests in the exhaust gas laboratory, this intake is available as usual with a parts certificate and also in combination with the APR software.
Attention: Combinations with other conversions from other manufacturers were not examined and require a separate assessment according to § 19 (2) StVZO.
Our open PEX intake system dispenses with the closed airbox design and consists of a solid, washable and reusable 7-inch conical cotton filter. This filter was necessary to improve pressure drop compared to the stock intake and to maximize airflow. The result is exceptional sound in all driving situations.
The PEX material gives the intake a touch of the OEM look and allows us to mass produce complex and organically oriented heat shield shapes to keep out the hot air being forced through the front radiator. APR PEX also stores less heat than other materials, such as e.g. e.g. metal.

The following measurement results show the excellent performance of our intake system, both as an individual part and as a complete system.
With the original intake system, a throughput of 245l/s is achieved at a differential pressure of 70 mbar.
With our open intake system, we achieve a 60% higher throughput of 393 l/s at the same differential pressure.
The series turbocharger can suck in approx. 190 l/s without restrictions, any intake system will reduce this value.
Our development goal was to keep all restrictions as low as possible in order to achieve maximum performance.
The OEM system reduces the 190l/s to 129l/s by 31%. The complete APR system of open intake, pipe and turbo inlet reduces the value to 163 l/s, which is only 13%.
That's a 25% improvement over the stock parts! This leads to noticeably better performance! An APR tuned Audi S3 achieved about 12 hp more power in a direct comparison.
This is solid data showing a clear difference in performance.
